Santa Fe Children’s Museum to re-open Friday, April 29th at 10:00 am
Special activities throughout the weekend planned
Following its four-month closure during which improvements to the facility were made and new exhibits were installed, the Santa Fe Children’s Museum will re-open to the public on Friday, April 29th at 10:00 am. Grand re-opening festivities will continue throughout the weekend and include the debut of new exhibits, the opening of the Courtyard Cafe and activities throughout the weekend. Special activities include: “Skratch” workshop from Meow Wolf designers, kite making, rock painting, book readings, programming from Big Sky Learning, new animal friends from Jurassic Pets, and an ice cream social on Sunday, May 1st at 2:00 pm.
Sally Mittler, President of the Board of Directors of the Santa Fe Children’s Museum states “During our “re-boot”, a number of improvements were made to the facility and to the infrastructure which will help the Santa Fe Children’s Museum function more efficiently. We also are piloting an onsite Café, catered by Two Sprout Farm. Now guests can enjoy healthy and delicious lunches and snacks inside or picnic under the pines”.
Mittler adds: “The re-boot period gave us time to reflect on the role the Santa Fe Children’s Museum plays as we enter our 31st year serving our community. One of the reoccurring themes was the need for community collaborations and partnership. We strongly believe that one of the keys to our sustainability going forward is our collaboration, partnership with, and inclusion of community organizations and businesses in opportunities as they present themselves. To that end, we are especially thankful for our community partners who will have a presence during our re-opening festivities”. Community Partners include: Two Sprout Farm, Jurassic Pets, Meow Wolf, Skratchworks, Santa Fe Science Initiative, Beehive Books, Big Sky Learning and Santa Fe Model Railroad.
“Temporarily closing the Santa Fe Children’s Museum was a bold move and we would like to acknowledge the generous support by the Brindle Foundation and Gemini Rosemont, who believed in our re-boot process and were confident that, at the conclusion of our work, the Santa Fe Children’s Museum would re-emerge a stronger, more sustainable organization,” states Mittler.
Grand re-opening hours are Friday, April 29th and Saturday, April 30th 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday, May 1st Noon to 5:00 pm.
