Event Series: Winter Workshops

Winter Workshops

Explore up to five exciting topics in our Winter Workshop series!

(Ages 5 – 9)

The Santa Fe Children’s Museum is back with 5 new workshops to fill your breaks, with days full of discovery! Winter Workshops: An Explorer’s Series will spark creativity and curiosity during special hands-on sessions! Campers will be enchanted by our daily themes and educated through art, science, and play each day! Featuring brand new projects, private playtime and days jam-packed with fun!

Daily: 9 am – 3:45 pm

Drop-Off Window: 8:45 am – 9 am

Pick-Up Window: 3:45 pm – 4 pm
(A $15 late pick-up fee will be assessed if a child is not retrieved by 4:15pm.)

Museum Members receive $10 off each workshop (must be a Member by November 6th)

Workshop #1: November 23

CULINARY CREATIONS!

Explore the world of culinary arts! This workshop is all about food, eat your way through the rainbow and use a traditional Horno to make a pizza lunch, and head home with some cookies to share. + Featuring Special Guest Professor Sprout, from the Santa Fe Botanical Garden.

Workshop #2: December 22

WINTER MAGIC

It’s the most magical time of the year! Make a wizard wand, and create a fantastical familiar. Patent a potion and draft a secret spellbook in this wondrous workshop.

Workshop #3: December 29

GAME ON

Ready, set, play! From board games to cooperative group games, today is all about crafting our own entertainment. Make a miniature mini-golf course, get lost in a “laser” maze, and DIY puzzles and games for on-the-go!

Workshop #4: January 5

READY, SET, MAKE

From a mechanical hand to a solar car, let’s get to making! Today will be all about using science and engineering to make incredible creations! Craft a device that will protect a falling egg, and rig up a solar speeder!

Camp Scholarship Application


If the cost of Winter Workshops is prohibitive, the Santa Fe Children’s Museum may offer financial support.

Deadline to apply for Workshop 1: November 13th (11:59 pm)
Deadline to apply for Workshops 2–5: December 1st (11:59 pm
)

Scholarship Recipients Notifications:
Workshop 1 by November 17th
Workshops 2–5 by December 8th

All must accept or decline scholarship awards by November 19th for Workshop 1 and by December 12th for Workshops 2–5.


Plan for Play

Structure

  • 10 children: 1 adult ratio. 
  • All Children will be in the same large combined classroom all day.
  • Mask Wearing regulations for campers will follow that of students in Santa Fe Public Schools. At this time, the Santa Fe Children’s Museum encourages mask wearing for all, but it will be optional for campers, staff and Youth Mentors. Proof and/or knowledge of vaccination status is appreciated, but also not required for camp participation. 
  • Any child, staff, or mentor experiencing symptoms of illness is asked to stay home.
  • Best practices for hand hygiene will be followed
  • All toys and costumes will be disinfected daily
  • Eating times will be outside when possible in our heated outdoor classroom

Materials & Personal Property

  • Personal water bottles are highly encouraged – filtered water will be available for refills
  • No use of microwave will be permitted
  • Please label all personal items, jackets, hats, lunchboxes, etc. with child’s last name and first name initial. 
  • Children will spend time outdoors and classroom temperatures can flux, so please dress in layers and for mess!

Drop-off/Pick-up

  • Parents will drop off through the main entrance between 8:45 and 9:00am. Parents must escort their camper into the building and sign them in each day. 
  • Pick-Up Location: Parents will also pick up Campers from the main museum entrance between 3:45 pm and 4 pm. Parents will be charged a $15 late pick up fee if their child is not retrieved by 4:15pm.

Safety Measures

  • The Santa Fe Children’s Museum follows the latest CDC guidelines and to ensure the health and safety of all campers and staff. We remain committed to delivering a fun and educational experience for all!

Refund Policy

  • All registrations canceled two weeks or more before the week of the camp start date will receive a refund minus the $35 deposit.  Cancellations one week or less before the camp start date will NOT be refunded, regardless of filling the spot.
  • The same cancellation policy stands for campers on scholarship, however the non-refundable deposit is reduced.
