My youth mentorship at the Santa Fe Children’s Museum is truly an experience that I will never forget. The staff was so enthusiastic about what they were doing and the children were so excited to be there. The positivity exuding from the museum is infectious and I got bit with the bug. I really feel like I was part of something greater because there was a clear objective of every task a staff member had me complete. You’re not picking weeds here, you’re building a garden and the children can see this and respond in a way that feels magical. Interning and volunteering with the Santa Fe Children’s Museum has been so great, it has given me so many skills for teaching and has really given me a chance to explore teaching and child care for a future career. I think opportunities like these are very important to have for young individuals to experience different careers so they can better find out what they want to do in the future.
