TYPES OF BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Select your style of party below and learn all the different types of benefits in partying with the Santa Fe Children’s Museum:
GET READY TO PARTY
Whether you select a Traditional Birthday Party or VIP Play Party, the Santa Fe Children’s Museum makes it simple to execute your day of play.
CHECK-IN
The renter can check in at the front desk 30 minutes before the party. A staff member will be available to assist you with unloading. Please have your guests check in at the front desk by providing the birthday child’s name.
GUESTS
Parties cover admission for up to 25 or 30 guests, depending on party package (not including the birthday child). Additional children and adults are subject to a $10 admission fee at the expense of the renter.
ADDITIONAL PLAYTIME
Renters and party guests may enter before or stay after Traditional Parties for additional playtime during the museum’s opening hours. If a VIP Play Party Package is selected, additional playtime may take place only after the party.
EXTRA TIME IN PARTY ROOM
The renter may pay for additional time in the party room, depending on availability. The additional party time is $50 for every 30 minutes.
PARKING
Free parking is available for the renter and guests at the Museum.
IMPORTANT BIRTHDAY PARTY DETAILS
- Offered Wednesday – Sunday.
- Birthday parties can be booked up to 4 months in advance and no later than 2 weeks in advance.
- Birthday party guests (adults and children) are welcome to play in the Museum all day before and after the party. If a Private Birthday Party Package is selected, additional playtime may take place only after the party.
- ALL refreshments (other than water) and foods must be consumed in the Birthday Room or in the Backyard. Renters must provide their own food, beverages, snacks, and birthday treats/cake.
- There is a 30-minute set-up period and a 30-minute take-down period for all parties.
- Table coverings, centerpieces, balloons, confetti, and banners are allowed. Balloons and confetti are only allowed in the Birthday Room/the patio at the Woods Outdoor Classroom.
- No adhesives that put holes in the wall (staples, tacks, nails, etc.) are allowed to set up decorations. Please use command strips or painter’s tape. Please clean up and discard decorations before you leave.
- Outside goodie bags are welcome.
- Renters are responsible for the safety and well-being of any child dropped off at the party without their legal guardian present. Please get the parents’ contact information and inform your other party guests.
- Smoking, vaping, use of tobacco/cannabis, and alcohol are strictly prohibited.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
May I bring outside entertainment, such as face painters, balloon artists, birthday clowns, etc.?
Yes! The entertainer will be counted as part of the total guest count and must stay in the party area. Please contact the Reservations Manager for approval.
Can I drop things off the day before the birthday party?
If the room is available and the request has been approved by the Reservations Manager. The museum is not responsible for any damaged or lost items.
Is the staff able to receive my balloon, cake, and decoration order at the museum?
No, Museum staff cannot be responsible for receiving or signing off on any items for birthday parties.
What do I have to clean after the party?
Renters are responsible for clearing the decorations from the Birthday Room and the patio at the Woods Outdoor Classroom, placing trash in the designated area, storing chairs against the wall, and taking all valuables and gifts.
The staff will wipe/sanitize tables, sweep and mop the floor, take out the trash, and restore the Birthday Room /the patio at the Woods Outdoor Classroom to its original configuration.
Where can I hang a Piñata?
Outside in the patio at the Woods Outdoor Classroom, please ask the staff for assistance.
If my guests are museum members, would they be counted towards my total number of guests?
Any museum member who is at the museum for the birthday party will be counted towards the total number of guests. Children under 1 year of age are not counted towards the total number of guests.
Are infants counted as guests for the birthday party?
No, children under 1 year of age are not counted towards the total number of guests.
May I bring my own food and refreshments?
Renters can bring food and drinks. Museum staff are not responsible for signing from outside vendors for your party.
How many guests can a party room accommodate?
The Birthday Room can accommodate up to 30 people.
How is the room arranged?
- The Birthday Room contains 7 tables and 40 chairs. The tables are set at a regular height, with 6 chairs per table.
- Museum staff will arrange 4 tables in the center of the room.
- 2 tables will be found at the Birthday Room entrance and one near the plasma screen. Additional chairs are stacked against the wall for your use!
Does the Birthday Room have an ice maker?
- No. Please bring your own ice, if needed.
- The room does have a large refrigerator with a freezer, a sink, and countertop space that can be utilized by the renter.
What is not allowed on the Museum Floor?
- Food, drinks, balloons, piñatas, silly string, and confetti must remain in the Birthday Room / the patio at the Woods Outdoor Classroom at all times.
- Pets, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco are not allowed anywhere at the Museum. ESA animals are allowed on the premises.
- If you have a question about whether an item is allowed, please contact the Reservations Manager.
May I bring outside entertainment?
- Outside entertainment, such as a character appearance, face painter, balloon artist, and/or magician, is permitted in The Birthday Room.
- Outside entertainment requires a Certificate of Insurance.
- Please provide the Reservations Manager with entertainment information.
- For the Traditional Birthday Party Package, we recommend keeping the Birthday Room door closed so the public does not think entertainment is a Museum-wide program.
May I bring extra decorations?
- Centerpieces and table toppers are permitted. The Reservations Manager must approve any large decorations or items, such as freestanding backdrops, that may be placed in the Birthday Room.
- Museum staff cannot be responsible for signing decoration deliveries for your party from an outside vendor.
- No adhesives that put holes in the wall (staples, tacks, nails, etc.) are allowed to set up decorations. Please use command strips or painter’s tape.
- Any music can be played off our device or a personal Bluetooth speaker. There is no audio/visual equipment in the rooms.
What if one of my guests damages the room during my reservation?
Any damage to the room will be repaired at the sole expense of the renter.
What am I responsible for?
- Serving food. Our staff is not permitted to serve food to your guests nor clean up after refreshments are served.
- Trash containers are provided for your use in The Birthday Room.
- Please plan on promptly vacating The Birthday Room and the patio at the Woods Outdoor classroom at the end of your allotted time.
- Please do not tip our staff. However, we welcome your comments about their efforts to make your child’s day special on Google / Tripadvisor, / Social Media!
