Engages children in gross and fine motor skills as well as cognitive development through movement games, stretches and exercises to build coordination, musicality and spatial awareness. Students will explore working solo, in pairs and groups to understand spatial dimension, timing, and quality of movement to create dynamic pieces that are all their own.
ABOUT OUR DANCE INSTRUCTOR:
Tamara Bates has trained at Cleo Parker Robinson, the Martha Graham School and at Alvin Ailey School of Contemporary Dance in ballet, modern and contemporary dance. She has studied Afro-Cuban, Afro-Brazilian, Flamenco, Salsa, Tango and West African dance with master teachers from all over the world. Tamara has taught and/or choreographed for Snappy Dance Theatre in Boston, Moving People Dance Santa Fe, the National Dance Institute in Santa Fe, and Montana Ballet Company. She was the Program Manager for Citydance at Boston Ballet, serving over 3,000 children from the Boston Public Schools. She has an MA in child development and social policy from Tufts University.
