For nearly 40 years, the founders, board, staff, and volunteers of the Santa Fe Children’s Museum have created joyful experiences centered around community, learning, and play. Each year, we proudly serve 74,500 children and families, highlighting play as essential for lifelong learning and positive impacts on society as a whole. Play fosters essential social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills. Unfortunately, time allocated to outdoor play has dropped 50% within a generation, with school-age children playing outside for only 4 hours a week. This decline negatively affects brain development, problem-solving abilities, and overall mental health.* Our work is vital, and we cannot do it alone.

OUR MISSION
The Santa Fe Children’s Museum (SFCM) is based on a simple idea: children learn by doing. The Museum fosters connections among children and families through interactive exhibits and programs. Founded in 1985, SFCM reflects our diverse community through playful bilingual learning experiences. The Museum engages visitors of all ages by presenting creative and meaningful education with interactive hands-on exhibits and programs.
Fulfilling Our Mission
Based off of the fiscal year (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024)

- 48,670 guests visited

- 285 new Members joined, 290 renewals

- 13,806 kids and families received discounted admission with 2,670 being complimentary

- 1,904 students and 440 teachers attended a field trip

- 40 Title 1 Schools with 1,388 students attended a free field trip at the Children’s Museum.
- 74,500 overall guests served through onsite and offsite programs

- 650 pounds of fresh produce distributed to those in need from our Community Garden

- 32 camp scholarships distributed to families in need
- 9,917 children traveled to the stars for free through our portable planetarium, Stargazer which visits NM schools and beyond in person and virtually.
