The Santa Fe Children’s Museum is introducing a new and fun way to experience winter break, with days full of discovery! Winter Workshops: An Explorer’s Series will spark creativity and curiosity during special hands-on sessions! Campers will be enchanted by our daily themes and educated through art, science, and play each day! Featuring brand new projects, private playtime and days jam-packed with fun!
These new programs include STEAM activities led by our experienced museum educators, Maker Mondays– where you can get hands-on play, as well as special science experiments you can eat!

Workshop #1: December 23
MAKER MONDAY: PLAYFUL PRINTMAKING
On your marks, get set, MAKE! Whip up wrapping paper, create cards, and make magical masterpieces. Craft custom stamps, press a print with Legos, and use various techniques to unveil your unique designs. + Featuring Special Guest Professor Sprout, from the Santa Fe Botanical Garden.
Workshop #2: December 27
WONDROUS WEATHER
Lick lightning, catch clouds, and reach new heights with heat. Discover the forces of nature through playful experiments and food-based fun. Join us for a day of discovery and excitement!
Workshop #3: December 30
MAKER MONDAY: CARDBOARD CREATIONS
On your marks, get set, MAKE! Upcycle this marvelous material using the coolest cardboard tools, teamwork, and the power of imagination. Construct costumes, invent instruments, and dream big!
Workshop #4: January 2
ROCK YOUR WORLD: GEOLOGICAL JOURNEY
Crush crayons to understand a rock’s cycle, take core samples to get to the bottom of things, play with plates to make the Earth quake, and fabricate formations from sweet treats during this exciting exploration of the Earth.
Workshop #5: January 3
BUBBLEOLOGY
Pop into a winter science wonderland to discover the whimsical world of bubbles! Study bubble structure, test different soapy solutions, prepare potent bubble potions, and learn to blow, bounce, and build with bubbles in new ways of play.
Workshop #6: January 6
MAKER MONDAY: FIBER ARTS EXPLORATION
On your marks, get set, MAKE! Have fun with fibers and fine-tune your fingers. Turn textiles into treasure while weaving beautiful bookmarks, sewing a cinch sack, and constructing curious creatures from felt and yarn.

If the cost of Winter Workshops is prohibitive, the Santa Fe Children’s Museum may offer financial support.
Plan for Play
The Santa Fe Children’s Museum follows the latest CDC guidelines and to ensure the health and safety of all campers and staff.
We remain committed to delivering a fun and educational experience for all!
Structure
- 10 children: 1 adult ratio
- All Children will be in the same large combined classroom all day.
- Mask-wearing regulations for campers will follow that of students in Santa Fe Public Schools. At this time, the Santa Fe Children’s Museum encourages mask wearing for all, but it will be optional for campers, staff and Youth Mentors. Proof and/or knowledge of vaccination status is appreciated, but also not required for camp participation.
- Any child, staff, or mentor experiencing symptoms of illness is asked to stay home.
- Best practices for hand hygiene will be followed
- All toys and costumes will be disinfected daily
- Eating times will be outside when possible in our heated outdoor classroom
Materials & Personal Property
- Personal water bottles are highly encouraged – filtered water will be available for refills
- No use of microwave will be permitted
- Please label all personal items, jackets, hats, lunchboxes, etc. with child’s last name and first name initial.
- Children will spend time outdoors and classroom temperatures can flux, so please dress in layers and for mess!
Drop-off/Pick-up
- Parents will drop off through the main entrance between 8:45 am – 9 am. Parents must escort their camper into the building and sign them in each day.
- Pick-Up Location: Parents will also pick up Campers from the main museum entrance between 3:45 pm – 4 pm. Parents will be charged a $15 late pick-up fee if their child is not retrieved by 4 pm.
Refund Policy
- All registrations canceled two weeks or more before the week of the camp start date will receive a refund minus the $35 deposit. Cancellations one week or less before the camp start date will NOT be refunded, regardless of filling the spot.
- The same cancellation policy stands for campers on scholarship, however the non-refundable deposit is reduced.
