Banana Yucca (Yucca bacata)
Did you know that the Banana Yucca plant has a tiny friend called the Yucca Moth? These two have a remarkable partnership because they rely on each other for survival. In Santa Fe, the Banana Yucca produces sweet-smelling flowers at night to attract the little white moths.
The moth helps the plant by pollinating it and allowing it to produce seeds. In return, the Banana Yucca provides the moth with a safe place for its babies to grow. Without the moth, the plant couldn’t reproduce, and without the plant, the moth wouldn’t have a home. They truly are perfect partners!
